Untethered trailer tracking from Qualcomm’s OmniVision service now includes full monitoring functions for refrigeration units

NASSAU, BAHAMAS. Untethered trailer tracking from Qualcomm’s OmniVision service now includes full monitoring functions for refrigeration units. Announced at the Truckload Carriers Assn. annual meeting here this week, the new reefer trailer service allows remote monitoring of load temperatures and unit status to improve cold chain management and reefer maintenance.

The new service also automatically alerts fleets when reefer unit fuel is low, temperatures deviate from settings or there is a unit shutdown even is the trailer is unhooked from a power unit.

When hooked to a tractor equipped with OmniVision in-cab hardware, the new reefer monitoring service can also provide drivers with immediate alerts to refrigeration problems.
