ConMet has made several product announcements. The company says its new CastLite brake drum family provides up to 15% in weight savings over standard cast drums yet “does not carry the significant cost increase associated with other lightweight designs.”
According to ConMet, its new PreSet ductile iron trailer hubs were designed specifically for trailer applications in which weight savings is not an issue but the “low maintenance and extended life benefits of PreSet technology are required.” With periodic inspections, service intervals on these hubs can be extended up to 500,000 miles.
ConMet has made improvements to its Simplex and Simplex II fifth-wheel models. The changes are aimed at making the fifth wheels more ergonomic and functional. The company has also returned the Simplex 400 to its fifth-wheel line. Aimed at severe-service applications, it offers a vertical load capacity of 70,000 lb. with a trailing load rating of 200,000 lb. www.conmet.com or 307
