Terion reports that it has extended its contract for wireless service with Verizon Wireless, the country's largest wireless provider, until 2005. Terion's FleetView uses Verizon's network to provide untethered tracking for approximately 50,000 trailers.
Frito-Lay will equip its private delivery and distribution fleet with wireless data and tracking systems from Qualcomm Inc. The fleet intends to install 1,100 OmniTRACS and OmniExpress systems in tractors and trucks running the FleetAdvisor management application, according to Qualcomm. The PepsiCo division also plans to install the company's TrailerTRACS asset management system in 4,400 trailers.
Dispatch-Mate from Infosite Technologies can now be purchased with a license for IntelliRoute, the routing and mileage application from Rand-McNally's Transportation Data Management subsidiary that offers both household goods (HHG) and practical mile calculations. UK-based Chevin Fleet Solutions is now offering its fleet management software in North America.
