The Peterbilt Technician Institute reached a milestone this month, graduating more than 100 students through the program and into service technician careers throughout the Peterbilt dealer network, Peterbilt Motors Company recently announced.“The Peterbilt Technician Institute (PTI) is an outstanding success for Peterbilt and its dealer network, but more importantly it helps create success for our graduates by opening career opportunities for them,” said Darrin Siver, Peterbilt general manager and PACCAR vice president. “Skilled, qualified service technicians are very much in demand. PTI trains and certifies technicians who provide our dealers with increased shop productivity, as well as ensure the highest possible levels of customer satisfaction.”The graduating class this summer is from PTI’s location in Lisle, IL, and is the third group to graduate from there. PTI also trains students in Dallas. Between the two locations, Peterbilt said PTI has graduated 10 classes of students.PTI is a 12-week program that features exclusive classroom and hands-on instruction of total vehicle and engine diagnostics, maintenance and repairs. It also covers workplace topics such as customer service, dealership shop operations and laws and regulations. Students graduate with bumper-to-bumper knowledge of commercial vehicles, including expertise on the complete lineup of Peterbilt trucks and certification on PACCAR engines, the company said. Upon graduation, students begin working in Peterbilt dealerships as service technicians.
