Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC has announced it has acquired the business and related assets of SmarTire Systems Inc. Terms of the transaction, which is expected to be finalized during the fourth quarter of 2008, were not disclosed.

SmarTire, based in Vancouver, BC, develops proprietary advanced wireless sensing and control systems under the SmartWave brand for commercial vehicles.

Bendix said it plans to incorporate the SmarTire business into its existing electronics business unit, which also includes the Bendix ESP Electronic Stability Program and Bendix Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
