The average diesel price in the U.S. dropped 22 cents to $3.66 per gallon for the week of October 13, marking the lowest it has been since early March, according to the Energy Information Administration.

This is largely due to the drop in the price of crude oil, which was trading at $74.57 a barrel this morning, a drop of nearly 50% from its July 11 peak of $147.27 and the lowest level it has reached since September 2007, according to the Associated Press.

The most expensive area for diesel fuel continues to be New England, where it averaged $3.89 per gallon. The least expensive area is now the West Coast, which averaged $3.62 per gallon.
