Navistar Truck Group has set up a website to help customers learn more about the Federal Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, which increases the depreciation provision for new truck purchases in 2008 from 30% to 50%, reducing a buyer’s 2008 federal business tax liability by thousands of dollars per truck.

Trucks with a recovery period of 20 years or less that are acquired and put into service in 2008 qualify for bonus depreciation. If the purchase meets the requirements of the act, the owner may deduct 50% of the adjusted basis of the property in 2008, pointed out Navistar
