Con-way Multimodal, a division of Con-Way Inc.’s Menlo Worldwide Logistics operating unit, will open a Frisco, TX, branch office on Dec. 5, 2011.

Frisco is a suburb of Dallas. The office will be the fifth Con-way Multimodal location, joining Ann Arbor, MI; Portland, OR; Aurora, IL; and, most recently, Bentonville, AR.

Con-way Multimodal arranges third-party carrier services for over-the-road, intermodal, flatbed, heavy haul and specialized transportation for freight shipments.

One manager and six employees will serve customers out of the 6,800-sq.-ft. facility, with plans to have between 40 and 45 employees on staff by the end of 2015.

“Dallas is one of the top freight brokerage markets in the country and establishing a presence here was an important step in our growth plan,” said Tommy Barnes, president, Con-way Multimodal. “We’re not only able to better serve current customers in the area, but we can foster new relationships as well. In addition, as with our Bentonville location, we can recruit new talent from graduates of local universities known for some of the strongest logistics programs in the country. It’s all about elevating our service and expertise.”
