Nebraska-based truckload carrier Crete Carrier plans to a build a new $5.4-million facility in Roane County, TN, west of Knoxville. It will boast an eight-bay maintenance facility for trucks and trailers as well as a lounge, lunchroom and bunk room for drivers, said Karel Znamenacek, Crete’s executive VP.

“It’s the perfect location for us -- next to Interstates 40 and 75, where a lot of our trucks operate,” Znamenacek noted. “We estimate an average of 75 trucks a day will use this new facility.”

Crete, which operates 5,700 trucks and 13,000 trailers nationwide, plans to employ 50 people at the new Roane County site and will set up a driver recruiting center there as well.
