Beginning weekdays on Aug. 1, traffic will be intermittently stopped along 57 mi. of US 12 from Morton to Yakima, WA. According to the Washington State DOT (WSDOT), drivers could experience up to two-hour delays. WSDOT is conducting paving and slope stabilization projects along the route. The project is scheduled for completion sometime in October.

Truck drivers may choose to wait through the work zone delays or take alternate routes, including I-90 across the Cascade Mountains, or SR 14 or I-84 along the Columbia River. Large commercial vehicles are prohibited from going through Mt. Rainier National Park as a detour.

There is only one planned break in the project schedule: Work will be suspended by noon on Friday, Sept. 2, for the Labor Day holiday, and resume on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
