Hino Trucks has named Robert E. McDowell as senior vp of sales & customer support. He will succeed Dominick (Nick) Vermet, who will return to a position with a stakeholder of Hino Trucks.

According to Hino, McDowell brings an “extensive array of experiences from the industry to his new position,” which will become effective September 21. He will report directly to Sumio Fukaya, president & CEO. McDowell is the former president & CEO of Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, where he worked for 23 years. Prior to that, he had worked for Iveco Truck of North America.

At Hino, McDowell will oversee the company’s sales, parts and service efforts in the market to increase the overall presence in the U.S. for Hino Trucks.

“Hino Trucks appreciates Nick’s contribution over the past four years in leading the sales and

service organization and we wish him the best in his new role”, said Fukaya. “We welcome Bob

to Hino Trucks and look forward to working with him as part of our team. The tremendous experience in the industry he will bring to the organization will be a great asset.”

Fukaya added that “although market conditions have been very challenging in our sector, with the announcement of our 2010 EPA-compliant trucks, Hino Trucks is poised to continue its growth and become a larger player in the industry.”
