Paul Hoelting is stepping up to be senior vp-sales for UPS Freight, the LTL subsidiary of parcel giant United Parcel Service, replacing John Fain, who is retiring effective March 31.
Fain is a three-decade veteran of the transportation industry, serving in a variety of executive positions at then-named Overnite Transportation before its acquisition by UPS and subsequent transformation into UPS Freight.
Hoelting himself has two decades of transportation experience under his belt, dating back to 1990 when he joined rail giant Union Pacific (UP).
He subsequently joined Overnite in 1993, which was then owned by UP, and held a wide variety of positions there over the ensuing years – up to and including his most recent assignments of vp-finance and accounting and vp-business development, before being tapped to be Fain’s replacement.
