Hub picks up insurance broker

Chicago-based Hub International Limited, a transportation insurance provider, is buying Kaufman & Kaufman Insurance of Salt Lake City, a $9 million transportation broker that primarily serves the Western U.S.

“Kaufman & Kaufman increases both our national transportation market share and our regional penetration in the Western U.S.,” said Martin Hughes, Hub’s chairman & CEO.. “We see great opportunity for growth in the transportation sector through this transaction.”

He noted that Hub offers a broad array of property and casualty, reinsurance, life and health, employee benefits, investment and risk management products throughout the U.S. and Canada. Through the deal, the company will establish a specialty operation headquartered in Salt Lake City, with former Kaufman & Kaufman president Dale Kaufman as its president.
