Paris-based International Transport Forum (ITF) elected a new secretary general at its annual conference in Leipzig, Germany this week. Carole Coune, 42, will succeed the group’s current chief executive, Jack Short.
ITF is an intergovernmental global transportation policy body that acts like a think tank within the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and is comprised of transport ministers from 52 nations.
Coune currently serves as the president of the management board for the Belgian Ministry of Transport (known as FPS Mobility and Transport). Previously, she served with the Belgian National Railway (SNCB) as secretary to its management board and head of its department of international affairs.
