Florida Detroit Diesel-Allison, of Jacksonville, FL, has announced it is now solely focused on products and services for the off- highway vehicle segment – including industrial, construction, marine and power generation applications. The company has sold its on-highway assets to North Florida Western Star, a subsidiary of Tom Nehl Truck Company.
The company noted, however, that it will continue to serve the needs of on-highway customers via its other Florida facilities in Orlando, Ocala, Tampa, Fort Pierce, Fort Myers, Miami, and Panama City.
In addition, on-highway Detroit Diesel and Daimler Trucks North America customers can now be served in Jacksonville by North Florida Western Star.
Allison Transmission customers will have a choice of three Jacksonville-based authorized dealers: North Florida Western Star, Progressive Power Products, and Reliable Transmission Services.
Florida Detroit Diesel-Allison is a wholly owned subsidiary of Detroit Diesel Corp. and is an authorized distributor for Detroit Diesel, Mercedes-Benz Engines, MTU/DDC Power Generation, MTU and Allison products and services.
Donald Mann, the firm’s senior vp-operations, said the sale and focus change for the company’s Jacksonville location will allow it to concentrate on expanding capacity to service the growing off-highway market in that area of Florida.
