GRAPEVINE, TX. Mack Trucks Inc. will again sponsor the Share The Road highway safety outreach program

GRAPEVINE, TX. Mack Trucks Inc. will again sponsor the Share The Road highway safety outreach program.

The announcement was made here at the American Trucking Assn.’s (ATA) Management Conference & Exhibition.

“Thanks to Share the Road,” said Kevin Flaherty, Mack senior vp – U.S. and Canada, “millions of Americans know how to safely drive around large trucks, and millions more learn every year. We are proud to support the program and its professional drivers as they work to make our highways safer places for everyone.”

Designed to enhance the safety of America’s roadways by teaching car drivers how to safely drive around large trucks, Share the Road uses professional truck drivers with exemplary safety records to deliver life-saving messages about potential blind spots, safe following distances, truck stopping distances and other important topics.

The drivers share this vital information with local media, students, community leaders and highway users, using a Mack Pinnacle tractor donated by the truck maker as part of its support of Share the Road.

The SmartWay-certified 70-in. high-rise sleeper is equipped with a Mack mDrive automated manual transmission. The engine is a 13L, 505 hp. Mack MP8, featuring Mack ClearTech SCR technology and 1,760 lbs.-ft. of torque. It also features the Mack Road Stability Advantage by Bendix with Adaptive Cruise Control, which helps avoid collisions by integrating throttle, engine brake and foundation brakes into the cruise control function, the OEM noted.

The new Pinnacle is the third truck that Mack has provided to Share the Road since it became the founding sponsor in 2001.
