Moving and storage association awards Atlas Van Lines driver

Atlas Van Lines professional van operator (PVO) Charles Allen has been named the 2011 Special Commodities Super Van Operator by the American Moving and Storage Assn. (AMSA).

The AMSA Super Van Operator awards recognize drivers and owner-operators who provide the best in safe, reliable and customer-oriented truck transportation. Judging criteria include miles driven, preventable or non-preventable accidents, lifetime driving record, time out of service for any “hours of service” or equipment violations, financial responsibility, community involvement, customer service, driving awards and outside interests and activities.

Allen works in Atlas’ Specialized Transportation Group. Over the past 27 years, he has covered approximately 3 million miles and has received the Atlas Safe Operator Award for 16 consecutive years. Previously a household goods van operator, Allen transferred to the Specialized Transportation Group in 1999.

“While I wasn’t taught to toot my own horn, it’s an incredible honor knowing I’ve done my job well and impressed customers, peers and the company I represent,” said Allen. “I’m very humbled by this award and look forward to continuing to serve our customers well in the years to come.”

“It’s a great privilege to have one of the industry’s finest van operators representing Atlas on the road,” said Jack Griffin, president and COO of Atlas Van Lines. “An exemplary driver, Charles Allen has demonstrated the highest level of dedication to safety, and we’re pleased to see the industry recognize his unwavering commitment to safe operations.”
