CINCINNATI. Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions and the National Private Truck Council (NPTC) presented their 2011 Fleet of the Year and Fleet Safety awards this week at the NPTC Annual Education Management Conference and Exhibition. The Fleet of the Year Award is presented to one local operation, one small fleet (less than 50 vehicles) and one large fleet (over 50 vehicles) which record the lowest ratio of accidents per million miles during the previous year. The Fleet Safety Awards recognize fleets for improved safety records based upon crash rates in the previous year.

Three companies tied for the local operation Fleet of the Year Award: CVS Transportation LLC, Milliken & Co. and Webster Industries, Inc. There were also ties in the small fleet category, both for regional operations and for mixed operations. Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.; Hittman Transport Services Inc.; and Moen Inc. shared first-place honors for small fleet regional operations. ADM Trucking, Inc.; Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.; Frito-Lay, Inc.; Kraft Foods Inc.; Marzetti Co.; Orgill, Inc.; and Targa Transport LLC all earned first-place awards in the small fleet, mixed operation category.

The Fleet Safety Awards are divided into three categories: Gold, Silver and Bronze. Gold Seal Certificates of Merit go to companies and their employees for having operated their private truck fleet without experiencing an accident in the previous year. Silver Seal Certificates of Merit go to companies that were able to reduce accident frequency by 40% or more and Bronze Seal Certificates of Progress recognize fleets for making progress in reducing their accident frequency by 20% to 39%.

Thirteen companies earned Gold Seal Award Certificates for having no accidents in 2010: ADM Trucking, Inc.; Cooper Tire & Rubber Company; CVS Transportation LLC; Frito-Lay, Inc.; Hittman Transport Services, Inc.; Kraft Foods Inc.; Marzetti Company; Milliken & Company; Moen, Inc.; Orgill, Inc.; Targa Transport LLC and Webster Industries, Inc. Twenty companies also earned silver Seal or Bronze Seal awards.
