Santa Claus will be making an early stop this Thursday (Dec. 16) at Navistar’s Huntsville, AL, plant to deliver $20,000 worth of checks to three local charities—Habitat for Humanity, CASA (Care Assurance Systems for the Aging and Homebound) and the Salvation Army.
At the invitation-only special event, Navistar has announced it will “deliver on its promise to match the $10,000 prize People Magazine bestowed “on Huntsville plant manager Chuck Sibley for an employee-to-volunteer effort that enabled employees to work in the community during a temporary lull in production at the plant.
Instead of being laid off, Navistar explained, these employees provided valuable services to the local community. They refurbished homes for Habitat for Humanity, created numerous wheelchair ramps for CASA (Care Assurance Systems for the Aging and Homebound) and sorted inventory for the Salvation Army.
