ThingMagic has released the ThingMagic Vega RFID reader and Development kit, designed for in-transit visibility.

The unit has a serial interface that connects to the Vega IVR reader to a in-dash PC, on-board laptop, GPRS smart phone or telematics platform for RFID tag information processing, the company said. It can track assets, products or personnel.

The company said it originally designed the product for use by Ford with its ToolLink offering, but it is now being made available for commercial fleets to monitor in real time inventory and cargo beyond the warehouse.
