Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) COO Jim MacMaster has announced he will retire, effective June 30, after nearly 30 years with the company. “The tire industry has been home for most of my adult life,” MacMaster said. “I’ll certainly miss the everyday challenges at Yokohama and all of the great people I’ve worked with for so many years, but I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family in Georgia and doing a lot of traveling.”

MacMaster held a number of management positions at Yokohama through the years and was the Rubber Manufacturers Assn.’s chairman from 2007-2009.

“When I look back, my proudest achievement at Yokohama was the acquisition and expansion of our Salem, VA facility in 1989,” said MacMaster. “The flexible architecture of that plant lets us build an array of types and sizes of tires, which adds to YTC’s competitiveness in the North American marketplace.”

Celebrating its 40th anniversary operating in the U.S. YTC is the North American manufacturing and marketing arm of Japan’s Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., which has been a global manufacturer of tires since 1917.
