From preventive maintenance to automated fueling systems, Zonar Systems has carved out a sizable niche for itself in the trucking industry. The company marked its accomplishments with a recent celebration of its 10th anniversary.

“Offering new and efficient ways to improve all aspects of fleet management has been and will always be our focus at Zonar,” said Eric Manegold, founding partner and vice president of business development for commercial vehicles. “Ingenuity, innovation, and great relationships have brought us this far—I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years will bring.”

The company attributes its growth to customer-driven product innovations and strong relationships with customers who are leaders in their respective markets. For example, Zonar noted that Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) worked with them to develop and deploy a real-time, remote diagnostic system as standard equipment on model year 2012 Freightliner vehicles equipped with Detroit Diesel engines. DTNA’s Virtual Technician, powered by Zonar, was designed to deliver vehicle diagnostics and fault codes to DTNA’s service centers as they occur, making possible advanced repair scheduling and parts ordering, often before a vehicle arrives at the shop.

Advanced vehicle inspection and maintenance solutions have, in fact, been at the heart of the company’s growth and success, although it has been quick to leverage key capabilities to help streamline other fleet functions, such as fueling. Introduced last year, its Z-Con fuel purchasing and validation system developed with TCH, for instance, makes use of sensors, radios and computers to automate the fueling process.

“Ten years is an incredible milestone,” said Chris Oliver, vice president of sales and marketing at Zonar. “Maintaining great relationships with our customers is a key to our success. The constant engagement for ideas and input inspired some of the most innovative products in the market and elevated us to the forefront of this industry.”
