The transportation of arms, ammunition and explosives will become safer and more secure, the Dept. of Defense believes, when new regulations are put into place on Oct. 1, 2009.
Remote asset management company Skybitz is encouraging haulers of these goods to assess their operations to ensure they will be in compliance once the new law goes into effect.
Among the new mandates are satellite tracking reports every 15 minutes; a HERO certified, self-powered mobile terminal; cargo and door sensors that record opening/closing and removing of cargo; a notification when a tractor hooks or unhooks from a trailer, and an in-cab communication system with a panic button.
