Truckers driving through Delaware can now take advantage of the PrePass electronic preclearance system, as a new site has been located on Route 301 near Middletown, DE. PrePass allows qualified motor carriers to comply electronically with state-established weight, safety and credential requirements, and therefore bypass roadside inspection stations.
“We are delighted to welcome Delaware to the PrePass system,” said Richard P. Landis, president &CEO of Help, Inc. the public-private partnership that operates PrePass.
According to PrePass, the program has saved 304,000 metric tons of emissions and 138 million gal.of fuel as a result of allowing trucks to bypass weigh stations. PrePass Plus is fully interoperable with the E-ZPass electronic toll system deployed throughout the Northeastern U.S., which affords motor carriers the convenience of one account and one in-cab transponder for both weigh-station compliance and electronic toll payments, said Help Inc.
