LOUISVILLE, KY. A lightweight single-axle rear air suspension has been released by Kenworth here at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
The AG230 is a non-torque reactive parallelogram suspension with four bags. It has a capacity of 23,000 lbs. in a single-axle configuration and is for on-highway and vocational applications. The fully disc brake compatible AG230 is available for the Kenworth T440, T470, T660, T700, T800 and W900 models.
“The lightweight Kenworth AG230 is the latest in a long line of Kenworth’s innovative and proprietary suspensions, which possess a well-deserved reputation for providing excellent reliability, ride performance and driver comfort while helping to maximize payload,” said Jason Skoog, director of marketing planning and research. “The new AG230 is an ideal choice for customers in a variety of applications, ranging from single-axle tractors pulling double trailers to straight trucks performing jobsite work.”
The AG230’s parallelogram design maintains optimum pinion angle throughout the range of suspension articulation to help minimize driveline vibrations and maximize traction, Kenworth said. Air springs with special lower pistons, designed specifically for the single-axle application, adjust continuously to changing road conditions for superior ride quality.
The suspension is based on the AG460 and uses many of the same parts, making it ideal for fleets that run both single and tandem suspensions, the company said.
