USF Holland Expands in the Northeast

Regional LTL operator USF Holland has opened eight new freight terminals in the Northeastern U.S.

Regional LTL operator USF Holland has opened eight new freight terminals in the Northeastern U.S. This marks an attempt to recapture market share lost when its parent company, Chicago-based USF Corp., shut down its USF Red Star subsidiary.

The expansion adds over 100 employees to USF Holland’s staff and terminals in: Baltimore, MD; Albany, NY; Glenmont, NY; Allentown, PA; Harrisburg, PA; Philadelphia, PA; Wilkes Barre, PA; Mountain Top, PA; Syracuse, NY; and Richmond, VA.

USF closed its Red Star subsidiary earlier this year citing revenue losses as a result of a strike initiated by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which was honored by 1,500 USF Red Star drivers and dockworkers affiliated with the Teamsters when 15 office workers demanded union representation.
