Freightliner Trucks is offering an option that makes it easy to be green— Class 8 models can now be spec’d with an aftermarket HVAC system and auxiliary generator installed at the factory to cut idling.

The 120-volt, 14,000 Btu HVAC system provided by Dometic Corp. are available for Freightliner Century Class S/T, Coronado, Columbia, Classic XL and Classic truck models.

“We offer the ‘Idle Solutions’ HVAC system on our heavy-duty vehicles because it positively impacts the trucking industry, truck drivers and the environment,” said Mark Lampert, Freightliner senior vp— sales and marketing. “Idle Solutions allows drivers to remain comfortable in their cabs while reducing emissions and fuel consumption.”
