Mark your calendars: the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) is arranging for 10,000 certified federal, state, provincial and local officers to conduct truck and bus safety inspections on June 6-8 throughout North America.

Inspectors are going to conduct a 37-step inspection procedure that covers vehicle, driver and cargo safety as part of CVSA’s ‘Roadcheck 2006’ safety enforcement and education initiative this year: including safety belt use among commercial drivers. Last year 1,150 safety belt violations were documented during the three-day span of Roadcheck 2005, while 755 were cited in 2004.

A total of 61,278 inspections were conducted during Roadcheck 2005.
