The national average price for a gallon of diesel rose 0.8 cents to $2.926 for the week ending July 16, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). High crude oil prices have put upward pressure on prices.

The Central Atlantic region saw the biggest spike in diesel prices after a 2.9-cent increase to $2.992. Not all regions posted an increase, however. California saw its fifth-consecutive week of price breaks yet still has the highest prices in the country after a 1.6-cent slide to $3.097. California also saw the steepest price drop that week.

The cheapest region in which to fill up was the Lower Atlantic, despite a 1.5-cent jump to $2.864.
