Fikes Truck Line has commemorated its 25th anniversary under the ownership of Jim and Hannah Smith.

The company, originally founded in 1941 as a regional lumber hauler, was purchased by the Smiths in 1981. At the time, it fielded 11 trucks and had authority only to operate out of Arkansas. Today, Fikes has a fleet of more than 500 owner-operator vehicles and 48-state authority. The carrier specializes in transporting steel, machinery, building materials and manufactured goods using flatbeds, drop decks, RGNs and side kites.

“Our intention from the start was to expand,” said Jim Smith, Fikes president. “We are proud of what we have accomplished.”
