C.H. Robinson Joins DJ Transportation Average

Third-party logistics company C. H. Robinson Worldwide (CHRW) will replace Roadway Corporation (ROAD) in the Dow Jones Transportation Average, effective after the close of trading on Dec. 11, 2003.

For 2002, the C.H. Robinson had $3.3 billion in gross revenues, 2.7 million shipments delivered for 15,000+ customers globally, 20,000+ U.S. motor carriers under contract, (10,000 in Europe), approximately 3,800 employees and more than more than 150 offices worldwide, according to the company. It is traded on NASDAQ under the symbol CHRW.

Roadway is being dropped from the DJ Transportation Average because of its merger with Yellow. Yellow (YELL) is also component of the DJTA, and the merged company, Yellow-Roadway, is expected to stay a component.

The Dow Jones Transportation Average represents the leading twenty transportation companies in the U.S.
