I-95 is closed in Bridgeport, CT, due to a collision between an oil tanker and a car last night. At a press conference this morning, Connecticut Governor John Rowland said the interstate is expected to remain closed from twelve to fourteen days.

State troopers are rerouting trucks headed south on I-95 to CT Route 8 North to I-84 West into Waterbury. Trucks going northbound on I-95 should take Exit 25, go left onto Commerce Dr., left onto State St., and then right onto Lafayette Blvd. to the ramp for I-95 North.

Michael Riley, president of the Connecticut Motor Carriers Assn., told Fleet Owner that transporters of over-dimension loads will be able to travel on Saturday with permits.

Operations for carriers transporting oversized loads are prohibited from traveling south of Hartford on I-91, on I-95 from Greenwich to New Haven, west of Hartford on I-84, or on CT Route 8.
