Diesel engine maker Cummins Inc. said that its Internet-based engine control system software, called PowerSpec, is now available for all Cummins IS engines.
PowerSpec now allows Cummins ISB, ISC and ISL engine owners, as well as those who own Signature 600, ISX and ISM engines, to custom spec electronic features themselves. When it was introduced in March, PowerSpec was only available for Cummins’ Signature, ISX and ISM engines.
Cummins PowerSpec allows authorized users to upload parameters to the engine’s Electronic Control Module (ECM) via a secure datalink connected to the Internet. Settings can be downloaded to a diskette and brought to a dealer or distributor for engine programming or printed for later reference. Access is controlled by a security system that allows authorized users to easily modify their engine’s electronic features.
