The national average cost at the pump for a gallon of diesel fuel fell a penny last week to $1.392, marking the lowest price since the week ending April 2 and the first time it’s been under $1.40 since April 9, according to the Dept. of Energy.
The price at the pump reached its peak nationally on Memorial Day at $1.529, and has dropped 13.7 cents since.
The Lower-Atlantic region remained the area with the lowest average at $1.377, followed by the Gulf Coast ($1.362), Midwest ($1.365) and East Coast ($1.385). California is still the highest region at $1.605.
Each of the nine regions polled reported a drop in price for a third straight week.
