Truck component supplier Eaton Corp., based in Cleveland, OH, has purchased the vehicle mirror actuator business of Donnelly Corp., which is located in Manorhamilton, Ireland, for an undisclosed amount.

Stephen M. Buente, senior VP for Eaton’s automotive group, said the Donnelly mirror acquisition will be critical to meet the growing demand for safety-related mirror control products in Europe. He added that Eaton intends to strategically reconfigure the facility it purchased from Donnelly so that it will include not only current mirror production but also provide space for business Eaton plans to relocate from the United States.

Buente said the plant reconfiguration is expected to be completed by early 2002, and will result in an operation generating annual sales of about $50 million in the next two to three years.
