Goodyear Engineered Products announced Friday that it will relocate its Green, OH air spring assembly operation to an existing facility at San Luis Potosi, Mexico, in October. More than 60 salaried and hourly associates will be affected by the move.

The company, a subsidiary of Akron, OH-based Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., will maintain its air spring technical center at Green.

Tave Mallamaci, president of engineered products, said the decision to relocate is not a reflection of associates' efforts, but of the changing business climate in a global marketplace.

"This was a very difficult decision to make because plant management, union officials and associates have worked very hard to try to make the plant competitive," said Mallamaci.

The plant, built in 1982, assembles materials produced at the San Luis Potosi facility into air springs used on truck and bus suspension systems.
