The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said today they signed an agreement to be the exclusive supplier of all U.S. Postal Service’s (USPS) ground tires for the next 10 years. Under this alliance, USPS will purchase only Goodyear replacement tires for its fleet of more than 200,000 transport and delivery vehicles, which travel some 1.1 billion miles annually.

USPS is expected to purchase approximately 235,000 Goodyear tires a year to outfit its fleet, which includes passenger, light truck and commercial truck tires, shipped by Goodyear to USPS’s 325 vehicle maintenance facilities across the country.

"This is an ideal business agreement, connecting the nation's provider of postal service with the largest tire maker in America,” said John Polhemus, president of Goodyear’s North American Tire division. “The decision to select Goodyear on an exclusive basis certainly underscores the confidence this government agency has in our products and service."
