ArvinMeritor today said that Great Dane Trailers has chosen the Meritor Tire Inflation System (MTIS) by P.S.I. as standard equipment on Great Dane's classic refrigerated van lines.

“This important step with an industry leader such as Great Dane is a key indication of the proven value and reliability enjoyed by fleets using MTIS,” said Varun Rao, MTIS product manager, worldwide trailer products, ArvinMeritor. “We have positioned ourselves and our customers ahead of the industry by developing and providing the MTIS well in advance of any regulatory deadline.”

MTIS by P.S.I. does not require driver intervention and is designed to constantly monitor tire pressure and automatically retain the predetermined tire inflation settings. ArvinMeritor said some tire systems use monitors that alert the driver that a tire is losing air pressure, but require the driver to locate a service facility to inflate the tire.

Based in Savannah, GA, Great Dane is a manufacturer of dry van, refrigerated and platform trailers.
