Intra Technologies has signed an exclusive agreement with Minneapolis-based Thermo King Corp. to catalog and distribute Thermo King Low-Voltage Disconnect (LVD) systems for reefer units through Thermo King dealers in North America.

According to Gary Lemon, Thermo King's vp-global aftermarket sales & marketing, Intra's LVD system ensure that diesel-powered reefer units have the battery power needed to start. "It¹s not uncommon for batteries to lose their charge after short periods of non-use -- as little as a week," he said, explaining that batteries are drawn down by interior trailer lights, data loggers or other systems.

Lemon said that Tukwila, WA-based Intra worked with Thermo King engineers to develop an LVD exclusively for Thermo King applications. Using patented technology, Intra¹s LVD constantly monitors battery levels and automatically disconnects current draw when battery voltage reaches critical levels. The LVD system can be installed in less than one hour, Intra said.
