Handling logistics for the wine industry is more complicated than most because of strict laws governing the sale and movement of alcoholic beverages – laws that vary from state to state. However, New Vine Logistics (NVL) of Napa, CA, has launched a proprietary logistics system that enable legally compliant shipping of wines to consumers in 35 states, covering 85% of the U.S. wine market.
NVL says it has developed a solution to access a majority of wine consumers throughout the U.S. quickly, accurately and in compliance with the laws of each state. Fulfillment turnaround time, which varies by state, runs one to seven days from time of order to delivery to the consumer's door, the company said. The company has assembled a team of wine industry and transportation experts to build and run the fulfillment systems and network, according to CEO Kathleen Schumacher.
NVL operates a 90,000-sq-ft pick-pack warehouse in Napa Valley with an automated warehouse management system.
