The National Private Truck Council (NPTC) has launched its “Best Practices Safety Guide”, an online benchmarking management tool designed to evaluate and provide feedback to enhance safety for the private fleet community.

The tool, which is available to NPTC members, requires the fleet owner to fill out a 181-question survey. These questions are divided into six categories: leadership/ management, the driver, maintenance, event management, culture, and evaluation/ assessment/ measurement.

Upon completion of the survey, respondents receive an immediate score and recommendations to improve safety. Scores can be compared with the average scores of all participating NTCP fleet members.

“In less than two hours, participants will have a complete picture of where they stand and what areas of their operation need improvement,” said Gary F. Petty, NPTC president & CEO. “By applying this value-added tool and the resulting best practices feedback, members will save months and even years of effort, tens of thousands of dollars, and be able to take advantage of the experience and expertise of some of the best safety and security practitioners in the private fleet industry.”
