Prism Business Media Inc., which publishes FleetOwner has announced the acquisition of Transportation Technical Services, Inc. (TTS), a trucking industry data source. TTS produces trucking industry database/directory resources and operates FleetSeek (www.fleetseek.com), a customized web vertical search engine providing detailed information on more than 200,000 trucking operations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

TTS, a privately held, 23-year-old data and research firm, gathers, develops, and analyzes detailed information on trucking operations for use by the wide range of companies that market products and/or services to the industry. In addition to FleetSeek, TTS currently produces eight major database/directory products, as well as 30 targeted versions of these products. The firm also conducts independent industry research and analysis surveys.

“Our acquisition of TTS reflects Prism's increasing focus on providing core data-based services to the many industries we serve,” said John French, president & CEO of Prism. TTS will become part of Prism's truck and auto group, which includes Fleet Owner and Ward's and will be rebranded as FleetSeek.

Current TTS head Ron Roth will continue to manage operations. A 17-year employee of TTS, Roth previously served as director of industry research and statistics for the American Trucking Assns. He will report to Prism Group publisher Tom Duncan. The group will continue to be based at its present location in Fredericksburg, VA.

“We are delighted to welcome TTS and its employees to the Prism family,” said Duncan. “We are particularly pleased that we will be able benefit from Ron Roth's deep expertise and experience in this field in the future. This step extends a 15-year partnership with TTS on co-marketing projects and the development of trucking's only national private fleet directory, and represents an ideal data-focused complement that will further strengthen our trucking and automotive offerings.”

Current TTS directory/database products include:

  • National Motor Carrier Directory
  • Private Fleet Directory
  • Canadian Motor Carrier Directory
  • Mexican Motor Carrier Directory
  • Owner-Operator Directory
  • Blue Book of Trucking Companies
  • Motor Carrier Routing Directory
  • National Truck Dealer Directory
