"This unique strategic partnership combines premiere multi-modal service providers through a state-of-the-art e-business platform," said Bill Bichael, vp of marketing for Roadway.
Roadway Air is powered by Integres Global Logistics, a strategic partnership of transportation and technology solutions providers. Throughout the Integres network, Roadway Air customers have access to nearly 3,000 passenger and cargo planes, more than 12,000 daily flight departures and more than 40,000 trailers, working with up to 400 terminals. The air-freight forwarding business, managed by the company's Roadway Express trucking unit, will include same-day delivery of shipments of more than 150 pounds.
"With the establishment of the air freight forwarding product, Roadway Express now offers one of the broadest ranges of speed options in the transportation industry," said James B. Gamache, director of sales for Roadway Air. "We can now offer everything from next flight out to our regular LTL service."
