Ryder System Inc. announced it has been awarded a multi-year transportation management contract by Hendrickson International to support its inbound transportation of raw materials and parts, and outbound shipments to company plants and customers.

Ryder will handle Hendrickson's carrier selection and negotiation, including shipment planning, optimization and procurement, which leverages the company's buying power to negotiate the best transportation rates and services. Compliance management, management reporting, and freight bill audit and payment through its transportation management center (TMC) in Fort Worth, TX, will also be supplied by Ryder.

"One of our biggest transportation challenges is to find ways to further reduce costs, optimize lanes and leverage services with a select group of qualified carriers," said Hendrickson International president Joe Ross. "Ryder provides us with a single-source solution for total transportation management that allows us to evaluate and leverage the best transportation buys to create maximum value."
