Simon Transportation appoints CFO, general counsel

Simon Transportation Services of Salt Lake City, UT, has named Robert T. Goates vp-finance, treasurer, and CFO, and Mark E. Wilkey vp-legal, secretary, and general counsel. Goates has 14 years of experience with Arthur Andersen LLP, where he served as a member of the team that audited financial records for Simon Transportation from 1993 to 1996. Simon Transportation Services of Salt Lake City, UT, has named Robert T. Goates vp-finance, treasurer, and CFO, and Mark E. Wilkey vp-legal, secretary, and general counsel. Goates has 14 years of experience with Arthur Andersen LLP, where he served as a member of the team that audited financial records for Simon Transportation from 1993 to 1996. Most recently, he served as CFO for Center7/Inc., a Salt Lake City-based software company. Goates is a certified public accountant.

Wilkey has 12 years of legal experience as an attorney/shareholder with the Salt Lake City law firm of Parr, Waddoups, Brown, Gee & Loveless. He most recently was associated with the Las Vegas law firm of Jones, Vargas.

Simon Transportation is a truckload carrier providing nationwide, predominantly temperature-controlled transportation services. To date, it has received some $9 million in funding from Jerry Moyes, owner of truckload giant Swift Transportation, based in Phoenix, AZ. Moyes also has a large holding of Simon stock.
