Kennesaw, GA-based truckload carrier Trism Inc. is shutting down its Specialized Division, which transported heavy weight and over-dimensional materials, effective immediately, the company announced today. The division has ceased picking up shipments and will deliver remaining shipments in transit to their destination points before shutting down permanently, the carrier said.

Trism added that it is currently in discussions with its equipment lenders to reschedule certain equipment payments and to return excess tractors. In order to further reduce costs and generate cash to pay down debt obligations which are currently in default, Trism said it will also close terminal facilities, sell trailers and terminate substantially all driver and non-driver personnel associated with the Heavy Haul Division.

Trism emphasised, however, that it will continue to operate its Secured Division which specializes in the transportation of munitions, explosives and hazardous waste.
