Chicago-based USFreightways Corp. has introduced what it calls two components in a new “portfolio” of less-than-truckload (LTL) service offerings.

The two new services, USF Premier and USF PremierPlus, are touted as the “marque” for premium, standard speed inter-regional and national LTL transportation service offered by the USFreightways Regional Carrier Group.

USF PremierPlus links USF’s regional carriers with seamlessly integrated operations and exclusive use of premium sleeper team service, with published stringent transit standards for all lanes, direct delivery, door-to-door tracking/tracing capabilities, and electronic viewing and retrieval of shipment documents.

Supporting both USF Premier and USF PremierPlus is an enhanced version of USF Net (a secure customer service web site), offering immediate access to shipment status updates, complete origin and destination terminal information, and rate quotation estimates using customer specific pricing.

“Our objective is to leverage the substantial resources of USFreightways to provide our customers with North America’s best transportation value,” said Samuel K. Skinner, USF’s chairman, president & CEO. “As part of this process, we are formally defining our current services to provide a common frame of reference for our customers and employees nationwide. Future service offerings will address customers’ time-definite and high-speed transportation needs,” he added.
