Yellow Freight System’s “My Yellow” Internet site has been named the best transportation website in the country byInternetWeek magazine.

My Yellow serves as the online customer service portal for Yellow Freight System, offering features ranging from pickup requests and rate quotes to service maps and electronic shipping forms.

The magazine used six criteria to evaluate company web sites in its annual ranking poll. They include customer service activities conducted over the Internet, use of the Internet for supplier/procurement management, and participation in electronic marketplaces such as exchange and auction sites. It also gauged the integration of information throughout the overall organization, growth in revenue derived from e-business activities, and success in managing costs through e-business activities.

Since early 2000, Yellow says it has grown the number of registered My Yellow users from about 4,300 to 40,000. Recently introduced features include a rate calculator that lets the customer find pricing based on the best delivery window times for their business, an online bill of lading feature that lets the customer keep accurate records of all shipments, and speed invoicing and online resolution for shortage and damage claims.
