The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will hold a public meeting of its Medical Review Board (MRB) on Aug. 31 at DOT headquarters in Washington, DC.
The MRB is in the process of establishing a new set of medical standards for operators of commercial vehicles, including an update of physical qualifications.
Interested parties—including carriers, drivers, medical personnel, etc.—are invited to attend the meeting, which will take place between 9 am and 1 pm. According to a preliminary agenda published in the June 26 Federal Register, there will be an hour-long public comment period (11 am to noon). Persons interested in making oral comments must register at the beginning of the meeting; comments must address “relevant medical and scientific issues on the MRB meeting agenda.” For more information, go to http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/mrb
Members of the public will also have an opportunity to participate in an afternoon listening session (2 pm to 5 pm) at the same location.
