The purchasing process may be slowing down, but Jerry Moyes, founder and former chairman of Swift Transportation, is still hard at work on his acquisition plans for Central Freight Lines, a non-union LTL carrier based in Waco, TX.

The merger deal between Central and two trucking entities owned by Moyes -- North American Truck Lines (NATL) and Green Acquisition Company, both based in Nevada – is slowing as Central seeks a 15-day extension from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to file its 2005 results.

Central said it expects to file its ’05 results by the end of this month, at which time it will mail proxy statements detailing the merger plans to its shareholders. Under terms of the deal announced thus far, Central will survive as a separate entity, becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of NATL.
